Twist carpets are comfortable and hard wearing. They can be used in almost all areas of the house. A twist carpet is made – as the name suggests – of twisted fibres, which give a soft feeling under foot while being robust enough when subjected to heavy footfall. Twist carpets are also forgiving when it comes to stains and imprints from furniture.
Saxony carpets are made of long twisted fibres that stand up straight, giving them a super soft and sumptuous feeling under foot. These carpets are typically used in bedrooms, but they also make for luxurious living rooms. They generally need a little more care than twist carpets, but for that you get that extra plush and comfy feeling.
Loop pile carpets are made of full loops – different to twist and saxony carpets, the fibres are not cut but looped around. This makes them feel quite firm under foot but equally it makes them the hardest wearing type of carpet. Loop carpets are often used on busy stairwells or in family homes where kids are very active. Remember though that pets might catch their claws in the loops.
